COLLECTION SELECTION

There are several ways your club can conduct a Collection Selection Campaign. The list of different types of items your club can collect and organizations you can donate them to is virtually endless. Whether you’re collecting coats during the winter to donate to a homeless shelter or school supplies to give to a local special education classroom your club can get creative to support a cause that they find important.

Pell City High School Girls (Pell City, Alabama) holds a coat drive each fall to donate to a local homeless shelter. The club promotes this project in their school and community and is able to collect and donate numerous warm coats to provide warmth for those in need during the winter. Other examples of Collection Selection projects include canned food drives, pop tab collections, collecting and donating hygiene products, to name a few.

Ideas include:

  • Can food drive
  • Toy drive
  • Blanket drive
  • Coat drive
  • Hygiene/personal goods for the local shelter
  • Bottle or aluminum can collection
  • Donate teddy bears for local emergency personnel

Does your club have a Collection Selection project you think other Junior Civitan clubs would be able to carry out? Submit your club project for a chance to be featured on the Junior Civitan website.
