WHAT ELSE IS ON THE BALLOT?
Currently, the program has a Constitution, Bylaws, and Policy Manual. Following guidance from the organization’s corporate counsel, the program is not required to have a Constitution and Bylaws due to the simple fact that it is a program and not an organization of its own. An ad hoc committee was comprised in 2021 to begin work in this area and agreed that a set of bylaws would still be beneficial for the program. The 2023-2024 Junior Civitan International Executive Board has approved the Bylaws that were completed in 2023 and the Civitan International Executive Board has approved the Bylaws for governing the Junior Civitans. The last step is for Junior Civitans to vote their new governing documents in.
The new set of bylaws contains the very important pieces of the program as follows:
- Name and motto
- Purpose
- Creed
- Club Membership and Name
- Geographical Structure
- Junior Civitan Year
- Revenue
- Authority
- Flagship Project
- Annual Elections
- Bylaw Amendments/Policy Revisions
While there are many things in the current constitution and bylaws that are omitted from the proposed bylaws, the majority of those omissions are being added to the policy manual.
